Where can i find free or almost free puppies in altoona, pennsylvania or nearby areas?

I’m moving out of my parents house soon and im finally able to get the small dog ive always wanted. But the only problem is, im on a tight budget with school and bills. I’ve checked the classifieds and the humane society but i cant find the small dogs that i want. So if anyone could please help me out you’d be greatly appreciated.

The initial purchase price of a dog is just the beginning. Dogs need food, veterinary care, training, etc. It is a lifetime commitment. If you can’t afford to pay the price of a puppy you can’t afford to keep it properly. Wait until your financial position has improved.

I know this sounds heartless, but day after day we see appeals for help on this forum from people whose dogs are having medical problems and who can’t afford to take them to the vet. If you can’t afford the dog, you can’t afford the dog.

Look, if you want a “free” or “almost free” dog, you don’t deserve to own one.

You’re on a tight budget, so you shouldn’t own a dog. Dogs come with vet bills (medications, neutering/spaying, etc.). Don’t have a dog if you can’t even afford one. Also, you won’t be able afford his necessities such as food, bed, crates, toys, treats, etc. Those are pricey when combined all together, I hope you know…

If you are on a tight budget do you REALLY think you will be able to afford all this dog will need? Anyone just giving pups away is more than likely not giving away healthy pups that have been dewormed or given their first shots.

I suggest you first move out and get settled and THEN figure out if a dog is right for you at that point of time rather than getting a puppy who will require a lot of attention and then finding out you made a mistake.

Sorry but pets are expensive IF you raise them properly…and I hope that you would. If you are on a budget then wait until your money situation is better. It would not be fair to an animal to have to go without something especially medical attention.

Nothing in Life id Free, Now a days even when somebody has a mutt that has puppies they stick a fancy name on them and sell them for a big price instead of just giving them away. And even if you do find one for free its first year is going to cost a fortune with shots, spaying or neutering , license, and leashes and collard and don’t forget food and treats, a decent size crate will cost you about 50 dollars.
So I agree with others wait til you are better off and then get a dog.

Maybe check craigslist for a dog that is up to date on shots and already neutered. Dogs are very expensive, though. The little pup I recently adopted from the shelter has cost me between $500 - $600 the first month alone. Think hard before you adopt a dog.

If you are on such “tight budget”, wait it out. The purchase price is only a fraction when it comes to proper care.
