Why does my 2 year old dog chew stuff while were sleeping?

My labradore is 2 years old and from time to time we will find something chewed on. I really thought this was a puppy thing. She does not do this all the time. Its weird because I will leave my shoes and other things on the floor but she some how finds other thing and will chew that up. For example I could not find my cell phone and the next morning it was chewed up. Another example, my kids left one of there gameboy games some where that I did not see it and in the morning and it was chewed up. Its getting pretty expensive. I dont know if this is a problem because as I said earlier she does not do it all the time. I would say once every two, three months. I will start to give her trust and as soon as you know it happens again. What do I do?

Sounds like she might be bored. Give her more exercise, especially in the evening. Do some obedience with her (you don’t need classes, just you and your dog) to occupy her mind. If she’s a sporadic chewer, why not confine her to your bedroom at night so she doesn’t have full run of the house?

She’s a lab. Although I have a 2 year old terrier and he likes to do the same. But mostly just underwear and garbage.
Here are some suggestions:
1. Really wear her out before bed. Play catch, run around. She can’t chew on things if she’s sleeping.
2. Get her some new chew toys and redirect her chewing.
3. Kennel her at night or when you can’t watch her.

At 2, she’s still a puppy. My guess is she might need a bit more exercise on those nights. Be sure she’s gettting enough exercise to totally wear her out at least every other day. Good luck!

Good answers hopadee. You might try keeping your underwear and garbage out of reach! lol
