What is the best way to teach my dog?

My dog is a seven month old female lab mix and I don’t know of ways to teach her basics. Sometimes when I’m going outside, she’ll see the door open and will rush outside and start running around the condominium. I will call her, but she doesn’t seem to care a bit and the only way to get her back in the house is to chase her. Also, she doesn’t know how to walk on a leash. She will pull very hard, and once I even fell because of it. My dad’s been thinking of a choker collar but I think that’s a little cruel so I want to know what other ways there are to teach her. And lastly, every time a guest comes to my house she’ll start jumping on them. She does that on the street sometimes too, and I’m afraid she could get someone’s clothes dirty and I’d be really embarrased.
So, does someone have any tips that could help me? I know my dog is smart when she wants to be and can learn if I reward her with treats or something similar.
Thanks if you can offer some solutions.

They don’t have to be yours but I’m looking for Saint Bernard puppies available in California for adoption?

I know that Saint Bernard dogs are rare, but I need a litter of puppies for adoption.
The puppies can be available now or expected to be born within a year from now.
Preferrably they would be based in Northern California, near the Bay Area.
I would love links to websites of the breeders.
Of course they don’t have to be YOUR puppies—-just do a Google and see if they are any people who have Saint Bernard puppies.

Why Do Sponge Dog Beds Drive Dogs Crazy?

Why Do Sponge Dog Beds Drive Dogs Crazy?
And WHY do they keep putting sponge in most dog beds?
Every breed of dog I have ever had wants to tear up, and sometimes eat the sponge in her or his dog bed? Is it the petroleum base used for sponge?
I have to use a wool blanket or an outdoor dog bed with natural chips inside to have it last more than a week.

Adopted dog with Parvo, will established dog be affected?

Hi,

I adopted a new puppy. within 4 days of adoption, he was diagnosed with Parvo Virus. I know that its very serious, and my question is: Will my established dog who has been immunized against parvo virus be susceptible to the virus because they were playing. I know that just because she has been vaccinated she should be ok, but is it fail proof? she is 1.5 y/o. Also, if the puppy survives treatment he is now undergoing, can he be reinfected by parvo virus left in places I haven’t been able to clean up?

How can I keep her from digging under the fence?

I have an 8-month old mixed breed dog. We got her from the Humane Society and have no idea what she is, so I can’t specify the breeds…but I don’t think that matters for this question. She’s about 40lbs and fairly short (kinda stocky, muscular). We want to install a dog door so she can go outside whenever she needs to, but we’ve seen her dig at the fence line a couple of times a few months ago…and she knew we were watching her. She has been out to potty by herself over the last couple of months and hasn’t dug at the fence line, but I’m afraid that if we install the door and actually leave the house then she might try to get under the fence. She is crate trained, but we’d like to offer her more freedom when/if it’s appropriate and safe. Does anyone have a dog that has tried to dig under the fence? Is there anyway to prevent it? I’ve heard of electric fences, but I don’t want to do that.
We have a 6-foot wooden fence.
