How can I get rid of “tear stains” on my white pup?

13 week old west highland white terrier (westie). He is all white, but has those brown streaked hairs around his eyes. I’ve heard of whitening shampoos for dogs and also “tear stain wipes”. I haven’t tried anything yet….how do i get rid of these brown streaks and how are they caused? are they really from tears?

Breeders/Experienced Dog Owners: Thoughts on this?

I was talking with a co-worker who has 2 purebred Vizlas that he shows…. I told him I am in contact with a great breeder of South African Boerboels and he told me to ask if the breeder allows for pups to remain with the mother/other puppies for 12 weeks.

He felt as though if a pup is allowed to stay for a month longer than the usual 8 week period, it gains a ton of socialization skills, learns how to interact with other dogs better, etc.

Id love to hear people’s thoughts on allowing a pup to stay with breeder until 12 weeks old…

(FYI, I have a purchase and sales agreement signing next week for a 6 acre property… and we have ALWAYS wanted a boerboel.. but how we have the need for a large working/guarding breed to watch our property and be a companion. I know some people like to bash the guarding breeds on here )
marti43- Excellent point about the “shipping of a dog”. I agree, I wish more breeders wouldnt ship puppies. Ill be travelling to PA from MA by car to pick up my boerboel…. I cant stand shipping puppies! Good point.

Everyone has made awesome points! Opinion questions always make it hard to pick a best answer…

Can anyone help us out with the average weight of 4 1/2 mos old pointer mix pup?

We have what we believe to be a 4 1/2 month old pointer mix. He weighs 31 pounds currently .. and we are just curious if he is going to be as big as the average adult pointer ( about 55-70 lbs.) or maybe smaller? Thanks! :)

Is it normal for a dog to have only one puppy?

My dog is kind of small, but not chihuahua sized. She gave birth to a puppy sometime in the early morning. I’ve waited, but she’s only had one puppy. It’s been almost 24 hours. She’s fine: eating, drinking, keeping good care of the puppy, and she’s still her happy self. I’ve watched her closely–she’s seems normal but this is her first time having a puppy. I’m sure she’s fine, but I just want to know if having one puppy is normal.

Also, any tips to take care of the mother and her pup?

How to differentiate btw both cropped tail Manchester terrier pup and Miniature pinscher pup?

i m not in U.S. currently, and wuts so weird abt ukraine is that - both type of dog’s tail were usually cropped since pup…so, is there anyway which i can avoid being scammed?

My pup is scared of EVERYTHING?

I have a 5 mo. old westie and she is terrified of everything from semi trucks to motorcycles and billboards. I take her to work with me every day and go near some traffic(normal city stuff) to let her potty. She is scared to death of loud noises and large objects. Is there anything I can do to help her? Her sister is nothing like this.
